Commonly asked questions at MindTrix Escape Room Games
Most people have a few questions before their first escape room experience. Below, we’ve listed a few that we encounter most often. Please don’t hesitate to contact us with questions, concerns or just to chat about which escape room you should try next.

What is an escape room game?
An escape “room” is often actually referring to more than one connected room which form an escape “game.” They are also sometimes called room escape games. Think of an escape room as a live-action game (often adventure related) where you are the star! Escape rooms are designed so that the goals, theme, puzzles, props, décor, etc. all work together to immerse the player into the story. They involve puzzles, riddles, detective skills, creativity, problem solving and team work within a time limit to progress through the story to its completion.
Are we really locked in a room?
No. You can leave at any time. Our games challenge your team without physically locking you inside.
Do I need to fill all available spaces in a time slot?
No. Each game requires at least two players, and the maximum is six or eight depending on the room. Because every booking is private, unused spaces remain empty.
Is the game private or will we play with others?
Yes. Every MindTrix game is private. Your group will never be combined with strangers.

Unfortunately, we can’t say that we are “officially”. But we can say that “these are the escape room games you’re looking for!”
Do you offer group discounts?
For groups larger than eight, contact us before booking. We can coordinate multiple private rooms or time slots and will explain any group pricing available for your event. Corporate groups can also review our team-building options.
What if we get stuck and can't solve a puzzle?
Hints are available whenever your team requests them. We want you to enjoy a satisfying challenge, not remain stalled, and your game master will help keep the adventure moving.
When should we arrive?
Arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled game time. Please complete every participant’s waiver online before arrival. The early-arrival window is for checking in, securing belongings, and receiving the pre-game briefing. Arriving at the scheduled start time is late and may shorten or cancel your game so later bookings are not affected.
What if I need to reschedule?
If you may need to reschedule, contact the booked location immediately. We will do our best to accommodate your request, but rescheduling is not guaranteed and payments are nonrefundable. A reliable schedule and accurate participant count help us provide every group with the best possible experience. Contact MindTrix.
Is there a minimum age to play?
Age guidance varies by room. Most games are family-friendly. Children under 5 may accompany a booked group at no charge. The Final Cut has a minimum age of 13 and is recommended for ages 16+; guests ages 13–15 must play with a participating adult. Every participant age 17 or younger needs a waiver signed by their own parent or legal guardian. Review the individual game page before booking.
Is there a minimum number of players?
Each private game requires at least two players. Because your group has the room to itself, we do not combine individual players with another party.
Where are you located?
MindTrix Escape Room Games has two Portland-area locations: Clackamas/Happy Valley inside Clackamas Town Center at 12000 SE 82nd Ave, Suite 1009, Happy Valley, OR 97086; and Tualatin at 19314 SW Mohave Ct, Tualatin, OR 97062.
Can I bring my phone or camera in the games?
Phones, cameras, and recording devices are not permitted inside the games because photos or video could reveal puzzles and spoilers. Secure storage is provided, and you are welcome to take celebration photos afterward.
Do I have to sign a safety waiver?
Yes. Every participant must complete a waiver electronically before arrival. Guests age 17 or younger must have a waiver signed by their own parent or legal guardian. Complete the digital waiver for the location where you are booked.
How long is an escape room experience?
Each escape room game is 60 minutes. Arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled start time and allow a little additional time afterward for the post-game wrap-up and celebration photos.
Is parking available?
Yes. Clackamas/Happy Valley guests can use Clackamas Town Center parking near our mall location. Tualatin guests can use the business-complex parking at 19314 SW Mohave Ct. See Our Locations for maps and arrival details.
Which location should I choose?
Choose Clackamas/Happy Valley for three family-friendly games: School of Magic, Tesla’s Doomsday Device, and The Time Machine. Choose Tualatin for The Lost Locomotive, Adrift in Space, or the age-restricted horror game The Final Cut. Tualatin also has a private party room, with The Secret Workshop and The Morning After coming soon.
Are the escape rooms accessible?
Accessibility considerations vary by game. Please contact the location you plan to visit before booking so we can discuss physical, sensory, or other needs and help you choose the best fit.
Can MindTrix host birthdays, corporate teams, and large groups?
